The year 2007 holds a very special place for all of us at Campus-Abroad. It marks the 29th year of Campus-Abroad's operations in India and across the world. What makes this moment all the more special is the fact that Campus-Abroad single- handedly ushered in the concept of counselling in overseas education. And, this in large part, accounts for our gilt-edged reputation in the now competitive arena of overseas education.

In a record that spans a vibrant quarter century, Campus-Abroad has helped aspiring overseas students achieve their dream of an education, virtually anywhere in the world.

Today, twenty-nine years and several successful careers later, Campus-Abroad is the first name in overseas education-promoters and counsellors in India. And as this Update will reveal, Campus-Abroad will continue serving as a launchpad for students aspiring to give their careers the cutting-edge advantage of a foreign degree.

We have been seeing regularly an increase in the number of students making their way to our offices across the country. Despite the recession, overseas education, continues to be a huge draw in India's student community. Campus-Abroad stands renewed, this academic year, to provide thousands of students across India, with new and innovative educational options. Here's looking to the Year ahead!

At Campus-Abroad, our most heartfelt pride comes from hearing about achievements of our students in campuses around the world. We have reason to rejoice, for one of our students Vijay Santh Vetri Selvam is in the news, for an extraordinary reason. A Cardiff graduate, Vijay Santh, is the 1st Indian to be awarded a First Class Honours degree in Law from the University. Following this, Vijay has joined Oxford University for his Master Degree. This will be followed by a training contract at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, a top law firm in London. Vijay will commence his contract with the firm in September 2004.

Speaking for Cardiff University Law School, Professor Phil Thomas, Director for Overseas Recruitment noted that Cardiff's law students from India were proving to be outstanding scholars and a credit to their families and nation. Clearly by the precedent laid by Vijay will

have more followers in the future. Since the early 1990s, Cardiff has become a popular choice for students, with range of quality education options.

Vijay Santh himself is no stranger to achievement. A multi-faceted student from Laidlaw Memorial School, Vijay Santh has distinguished his school career with a blend of academic excellence and co-curricular awards in Debating, Athletics and Cricket. Over the years, Campus-Abroad has established a vibrant association with Cardiff University of Wales in the United Kingdom. It is a global education option that Campus-Abroad has practically become synonymous with. Together, Campus-Abroad and Cardiff University have forged an academic alliance that has successfully moulded the education and careers of many students.

As Campus Abroad celebrated its Silver Jubilee, it was all set to offer scholarships to 25 students in Chennai this academic year. This scholarship was merit oriented and need based. The value of each scholarship was set at Four Thousand Rupees each, and have been offered to 25 deserving students.

This academic scholarship was one of the many initiatives Campus Abroad has been undertaking to aid needy students in their academic pursuits here. This scholarship came as part of the 25th year celebrations of Campus Abroad. It was offered in cheque form to the recipient towards any form of academic expenses. This was one of the organizations initiatives in reaching out to the economically weaker sections of our society.

Campus Abroad is known for its overseas education counselling and promotional services. In fact, it is the Indian pioneer in overseas education. In 2003, the organization had completed 25 years of imparting overseas education counselling and guidance for students pursuing foreign educational opportunities. Headed by Dr. C.B. Paul Chellakumar, Campus Abroad has counselled over 75,000 students till date.

As the official representative of many international universities, Campus-Abroad is well known for its FREE counselling services for aspiring students. Having helped place thousands of students in accredited universities in USA, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, etc., Campus Abroads has also been conducting programmes aimed at enabling easy access to Indian students seeking education at a foreign university.

Now, the scholarships instituted by Campus Abroad aims at reaching out to needy, students in our society. Campus-Abroad Students awarded Scholarships by the University of Newcastle Three of our students have distinguished themselves at the University of Newcastle. Students sent by Campus-Abroad have always excelled in their respective fields. We are delighted that this time, three of our students in the University of Newcastle have secured the meritorious University of Newcastle International Scholarship in September 2001.

The recipients of the University's scholarship for international students were felicitated at a reception. At the reception, Ms. Madeline Atkins, Pro-Vice-Chancellor with responsibility for Teaching and Learning, thanked the students for their contributions to the university.

The winners of the scholarships were Mr. Aasheesh Chari, BA (Hons), Accounting & Financial analysis, Mr. Sandeep Krishna Prasanna, BEng (Hons) Microelectronics & Software Engineering and Mr. Ashok Chokalingam, MBA, International Taught Postgraduate Scholarship. Each of the winners received an amount of 1,500 Pounds per annum. This amount can support the student through his or her terms in the university.

New courses offered by The University of Paisley

The quality of academic research and insightful course programme development has earned the University of Paisley a Grade 5 rating in the Scottish Higher Education Funding Council's Research Assessment Exercise (RAE). The University of Paisley Business School offers degree courses in Accounting and Business Accounting to qualify students for plum jobs in the financial sector. The University submitted 11 Units of Assessment for the RAE and most of them qualified for a grade of 3 or above.

Paisley is the only Scottish University to achieve such ratings in Physics, Computing Sciences, Accounting and Finance, European Studies, Courses allied to Medicine, Library & Information systems and Social Policy. As can be inferred from the ratings of the Scottish Higher Education Funding Council, Paisley's research excellence in Accounting and Finance is recognised across the global academic community.
